Wow. It's been crazy around here for the past few weeks. I work for a sporting goods Internet retailer located in Kansas City, MO. I am the programmer, web designer, and database administrator, in addition to CTO. Anyway, we got the idea three weeks ago to create a site like woot.com and steepandcheap.com. I brainstormed with the other employees and managers and we came up with
. We have the sister sites,
. If fact, we decided to make
so we developed this image.
It didn't get used, but is really cool looking. A to-do list was created and everyone attacked their action-items until we finished the site. Three weeks of cRaZy development and one case of 16oz tall-boy bawls, the website was born.
An email blast went to 8,000 past customers. We had tons of bad email addresses. I'd say between 5 and 10 percent bad. We did, however, sell 4 items and had 650 unique sessions. The googlebot even came over to visit yesterday and we are only a day old.
A few things we do different than the other great-deal sites. We have our phone number prominately displayed at the top-of-the-page. Our RSS feed updates twice per item so subscribers will be informed as a new item appears and when it sells out. We guarantee shipments dates and offer same day shipping up to 8:00 PM CST.
Check it out.
